Electro Power Systems unveils its most flexible and robust self-recharging, logistics-free backup power system
ElectroSelf 2: the World’s only self-recharging fuel cell system just got better
Barcelona, 14th February, 2011 – Electro Power Systems SpA is launching its newest entirely self- recharging fuel cell system for backup power, ElectroSelf 2, at Mobile World Congress at Green Power Pavilion (Hall 7; Booth 7GP12). The unique self-recharging backup power solution, originally previewed at the 2010 Mobile World Congress, has been redesigned to be smaller and more efficient with higher performance and enhanced flexibility – the outcome of 12 months of extensive field trials with telecom operators in Asia, Europe and the Americas. The result is a logistics-free backup power solution that fundamentally changes the economics of backup power provision.
ElectroSelf dramatically reduces operating costs by eliminating ongoing fuel costs, eliminating costs for the replacement of moving parts and virtually eliminating expensive maintenance visits. At most, the system requires minimal water top-off once per year. The new ElectroSelf is available in multiple versions with output power ranging from 1.5 to 12kW. It enables different levels of overall efficiency (electrical to electrical) for different applications (e.g. urban locations, roof top, rural, etc.), provides different recharging speeds for different markets, and can be easily tailored to meet the specific needs of each carrier.
ElectroSelf 2 delivers dependable backup power for mobile networks anywhere in the world, on or off-grid, including locations with unreliable power and/or within extreme climates. The self-contained and self-recharging fuel-cell system consumes only water, produces zero greenhouse gas emissions and can be used to backup renewable or mains power. It is simply the most evolved and most flexible green backup solution available in the market today.
"The new ElectroSelf is a truly unique product as it is the first and only entirely self-recharging backup power system in the world," says Adriano Marconetto, founder and CEO, Electro Power Systems SpA. "The result of over 12 months of intensive field testing with some of the world's top telecom carriers, ElectroSelf represents a direct response to what today’s market demands."
About ElectroSelf
ElectroSelf is a closed system which is completely self-recharging. During power outages it generates power by combining Hydrogen (H2) and Oxygen (O2), producing only water as a by- product. The power system engages automatically whenever external power fails. Whenever power is available it generates its own hydrogen fuel by electrolysis of the demineralized waste water from the power generation phase. It does this automatically whenever there is external power available, keeping the H2 tank full.
